COVID-19: 12 new deaths and drop in hospital admissions in Quebec

Quebec on Friday recorded 12 more deaths from COVID-19 as hospital admissions in the province continue to fall.

A total of 1,997 people remain in a hospital center related to the virus. That’s 14 fewer than the day before.

However, there was a slight increase in the ICU (47, +2).

Nearly a thousand new cases of COVID-19 have been reported at testing centers in the past 24 hours and 183 positive rapid tests have been self-reported.

The health network is still missing 4,280 workers because of the virus, whether for precautionary withdrawal, isolation or waiting for results.

  • 4,280 healthcare workers are absent due to COVID-related reasons
  • 1997 people hospitalized (-14)

  • 12,083 samples taken on August 17th
  • So far 278,293 self-declared rapid tests, of which 232,983 are positive: 214 declared for yesterday, of which 183 are positive.
  • 22,845 doses administered are added, for a total of 20,533,437 doses administered in Quebec.
