Costa Rica registers 3,805 cases of Covid 19 in the last week

Costa Rica’s Ministry of Health registered 3,805 new cases of Covid-19 nationwide on Friday, the third epidemiological week of 2023.

The data presented suggests a decrease of 1,060 new cases compared to the previous week, as 4,865 infections were reported on the dates between January 8 and 14.

Likewise, the report showed that the daily average of hospitalizations in the last week was 165 per day and 18 of them went to the intensive care unit, showing an increase compared to the previous period.

In addition, 16 people died from Covid-19-related causes in the last week, an average of more than two a day, although a decrease is reported compared to last week, when 19 people died.

In total, 1,186,176 people have suffered from Covid-19 in Costa Rica since the pandemic began, while 9,158 people have died from causes linked to the disease.
