Coronation Street fans stunned as drugged Cara knocks Paul off bike

Coronation Street fans were stunned after Carla Barlow’s Underworld colleagues failed to notice her change in behavior when serial killer Stephen Reid spiked her drink, resulting in her plowing Paul Foreman off his motorbike during Friday’s episode.

The businesswoman (Alison King) was seen getting behind the wheel of a van after picking it up from the shop near her underwear factory after the villain Stephen (Todd Boyce) spiked her tea with an unknown substance.

Killer Stephen has launched a campaign of terror against Carla to take control of her underwear factory.

He could be seen using an eyedropper to drip a clear liquid into her drink before leading her to question her sanity by telling her she had been canceling meetings when she hadn’t had.

When Carla arrived at the garage to pick up her vehicle, she thought a pile of tires on the ground was moving.

While the mechanic tried to prevent her from getting behind the wheel, most of her colleagues, friends and family, except for Stephen, failed to notice that she was out of shape.

Though Carla thought the tires were wobbling from side to side, she was allowed to get behind the wheel of the van, which she was driving down the cobblestones of Coronation Street before colliding with Paul, who was riding his bike.

Paul was seen falling to the ground before being knocked unconscious and taken to hospital.

Taking to Twitter, a viewer asked how events in Weatherfield had unfolded: “Carla hit a bike with a van and hurt someone and no one thought to take her to the hospital for a check up. I hope Carla is on Steven’s trail and sets a trap for him.”

Someone else wrote: “And if Carla stumbled surely her eyeballs would be like golf balls and someone would notice. No, not on #Corrie.

“How come no one noticed that Carla was perfectly fine until work this morning? #CoronationStreet,” another viewer asked.

While someone else shared: “Carla is a smart, perceptive, independent businesswoman. Am I to believe that she hasn’t realized that she may have been spiked/drugged? #korrie.’

Another viewer wrote: “So NOBODY wanted blood tests, hospital, police, insurance? NO? Even Carla isn’t thinking about getting checked out? Those stormy lines are just pathetic now!’

While someone else tweeted: “#Corrie In the real world, Carla would know she was tripping on LSD. Then Stephen would get caught.”

Another person wrote: “How is Carla not in police custody following this crash and undergoing tests that would show narcotics in her system?”

Meanwhile, tensions rose this week as Stephen took drastic new measures to secure his future on the road and began secretly drugging his boss, Carla.

Desperate to seal his design deal with fashion big player Rufus, the serial killer was delighted when Carla hired him to set it up, in exchange for a 15% commission and a contract.

Meanwhile, Carla told Sarah (Tina O’Brien) that she could continue working on her designs in exchange for an apology.

Upon meeting Rufus at his hotel, the businessman made it clear that he was not interested in the deal and Stephen asked him to reconsider.

Rufus proceeded to hand Stephen a vial of LSD before retiring to the bathroom to snort a series of cokes.

However, disaster struck when Rufus suddenly collapsed clutching his chest and as an ambulance wheeled him out, Carla called Stephen to ask if the deal was done.

After assuring Carla the deal was in place, Stephen began practicing forging Rufus’ signature – but he was cut short when an ex-worker barged in demanding her money – giving Stephen an idea.

Later at the factory, Stephen was outraged when Carla promoted his niece Sarah to Head of Design while he landed the Office Manager role.

To get revenge on his boss, he slipped into her office and poured LSD from Rufus’ briefcase into her tea.

“Consider this a peace gesture. To a fresh start,’ Stephen said as he handed her the drugged drink.

“I’m very fond of it,” she said as she sipped, unaware of the contents.

As Carla walked onto the factory floor, the drug began to take hold, leaving her dazed and confused.

The evil character later struck again in The Rovers when he dumped more LSD in her red wine.

When her partner Peter (Chris Gascoyne) arrived at the pub, he realized something was wrong and the cab driver feared Carla’s psychosis was returning as she started acting paranoid.

After Carla was escorted out of the pub by Peter, Stephen stepped up his campaign against her when he snuck into her office to cancel a meeting with Dick Haversham from her schedule while messing up her paperwork.
