Montreal caterer Cook announced on Thursday the acquisition of 70% of the shares in the catering company Menu Extra.

This partnership will allow the Montreal company, led by chefs Francis Blais and Camilo Lapointe-Nascimento and sommelier Alexis Demers, to expand its production capacity and expand its tentacles to Quebec City, Estrie and the Laurentians.

This fourth acquisition for the meal kit pioneer, which launched its own range of ready meals, allows Cook it to diversify its offering and carve out a place in the closed haute cuisine market.

“This partnership allows us to be the best way to eat for all occasions and represents another step towards the future of food,” said Judith Fetzer, President and Co-Founder of Cook It, in a press release.

“I worked with Cook it on the Master Class project, then met Judith through Adopte Inc.’s mentoring program and had an instant crush,” responded Francis Blais, co-founder of Menu Extra.
