Controlled runners with the Genesis GV60

This week in the Auto Guide Show, our presenters Antoine Joubert and Gabriel Gélinas test the Genesis GV60 on the Mécaglisse track in Notre-Dame-de-la-Merci.

“It’s sort of a cross between an SUV and a coupe car. In the case of the GV60, I think that’s a good thing,” says Gabriel.

From an aesthetic point of view, the two reviewers agree on the vehicle’s well-designed design, as it includes a sloping roofline and Genesis-specific elements such as headlights and dual horizontal lights.

Spacious and comfortable

” [Les Coréens] have made a huge leap forward in just a few years. Today we are being served a luxurious, state-of-the-art vehicle that looks nothing like the Hyundai IONIQ 5,” explains Antoine.

In fact, the GV60 uses the same E-GMP platform as the IONIQ 5 and Kia EV6. The manufacturer still managed to distinguish them, be it the style of the body or the interior.

“The space on board is very generous,” says Antoine. [D’ailleurs], the trunk is more spacious than that of a Volvo C40 Recharge, which is one of its most serious competitors. Ride comfort and handling are really impressive! »

More than 300 km of autonomy

With its 77.4 kWh battery, the Performance version has a range of 378 kilometers; the Advanced version increases it to 399 kilometers.

“The GV60 is powered by two electric motors. But what really stands out is the Boost mode, which can be found on board the Performance version. By pressing the button, we get an increase in performance for about ten seconds,” says Gabriel.

In fact, the Cavalry temporarily increases from 429 to 483 hp and torque from 429 to 446 lb-ft. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes 5.1 seconds.

But that’s not all, because this model also has an electrically controlled rear axle differential. This technology gives it the “drift” feature and our columnist had a great day with controlled skids!
