Conservative candidate who would chase motorists posts videos of young motorists

The Conservative candidate for St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Dominick Melnitzky, responded on his Facebook page on Friday to the young people accusing him of chasing them because of the noise and speed in the car.

Contacted by phone by our journalist last Tuesday, Mr. Melnitzky had said everything was settled before he ended the call.

In particular, the candidate and other citizens of Rue du Biat have posted images from surveillance cameras where we can see cars driving in front of their homes.

“Normal? 4 times like this and engine flush. Note that the stops are well done,” the contestant wrote in a Facebook post.

“Driving fast in our neighborhood is a scourge that has been described for a long time,” wrote another resident. The streets of Biat and Comeau are two streets full of children, both summer and winter, who traverse the district. The authorities do not seem to listen to the needs and heartfelt cries of the citizens. (…) Mr. Melnitzky is a citizen trying to advance the files for the safety of our young children.”

The plaintiffs, who prefer to remain anonymous to avoid further trouble with Dominick Melnitzky, believe the candidate behaved aggressively and inappropriately towards them. They claim to have contacted the police, who intervened.

Young drivers, until recently, drove around in front of the candidate’s place of residence to regularly join a friend who lives in the same neighborhood.

“We allegedly drove too fast and made too much noise, but we drove to the limit and then we hardly accelerated,” says one of the youngsters.
