Argentine prosecutors have linked Spanish opera actor Plácido Domingo to a criminal group in Buenos Aires. The latter is held responsible, among other things, for illegal prostitution, including minors. Other crimes would have been committed.

According to Argentine media reports, last week police carried out around 50 raids on “Grupo BA”, which operated behind the facade of the “Buenos Aires Yoga School” yoga studio. During the raids, 19 people were arrested and some items confiscated.
Headlines dominate the alleged recordings in which Domingo’s voice was recorded on telephone recordings. According to this, a few years ago, he allegedly requested sexual services as a “client” of a woman named “Mendy”, who worked for the criminal network.
The recordings must be able to hear how the man records the planned sexual encounter. He wanted to run away from a dinner party to find the unflappable woman. Another recording shows “Mendy” calling out the alleged leader of the criminal network, Juan Percowicz, to celebrate that all went well. The name “Plácido” must be mentioned.

As part of the #MeToo movement, Plácido Domingo has been accused of sexual harassment by several women in the past. A total of 20 women accused Domingo of forcing kisses, groping or fondling them without his consent. The cases date back to the 1980s. According to media reports, Domingo’s behavior was inconsequential for long because he seemed untouchable as one of the world’s biggest opera stars. Domingo initially denied the allegations, saying that all of his sexual relations and actions were “always welcome and consensual”.
In 2020, Domingo acknowledged his wrongdoing and apologized to the women involved.
