Comiket, talks about the artist who didn’t even sell a book

The Comiket 100 was the first Summer Comiket since 2019, the last year the event was regularly held live before the pandemic. This comic market was indeed very important for all the doujinshi artists involved as they were finally able to enter the field again after 3 years of waiting. Unfortunately, not all doujinshi circles managed to bring home good results, including the rookie. Ryoumei of the circle Dorusa who couldn’t sell a single copy.

For his first participation in Comiket, Ryoumei proposed a book of illustrations on the theme of “girls with pigtails,” which are still quite successful in the otaku community today. Despite the flop, the author is still satisfied with this first experience and commented on what happened on Twitter:

“I am very happy that the first event I was able to attend as a club was the Comiket 100. I ended up not even being able to sell a copy of my book, but I still had a valuable experience like being interviewed!

I would like to thank the two people who, after seeing the cover, were so interested that they wanted to pick up the book to check it out. I ended up trading most of the books with exhibitors in my area for one of their productions, but I think I’ll give the only remaining copy to a friend.

The Comic Market (also known as Comiket) is the largest comic event in the world and has been taking place for 47 years now. Since 1996, the Comiket has been held at the Tokyo International Fair, the Big Sight convention center in Odaiba, where it is held twice a year, in August under the name “Comiket d’estate” and in December as “Comiket in Winter”.

On August 13th and 14th, the 100th edition of the event took place, registering over 170,000 visitors. Also this year there was no lack of cosplayers among the participants, click HERE to see the photos of the event.
