FIRST PERIOD
Patrick Kennedy knows Iowa needs a win here before Penn State looks set to introduce three defending NCAA champions at 174, 184 and 197 pounds. Both guys go to the mat with different styles of knee pads, with Facundo’s right leg covered in tape and Kennedy’s right knee wearing a splint.

SECOND PERIOD
Kennedy chooses Down to start the second period and he’s out immediately. The Hawkeye leads 1-0. Just a minute. Here both guys put a lot of effort into it, but the wrestlers can’t convert yet. Ten more seconds. Kennedy leads 1-0 into the second round.
THIRD PERIOD
Facundo quickly escapes to start the third and level the score. We’re neutral again, tied at 1-1. Just a minute. Let’s see what these guys can do over time. I wouldn’t mind overtime though, we’ll see. Thirty seconds left. Travel time doesn’t matter. Ten seconds. We’re going to work overtime!
SUDDEN VICTORY
Lots of pushing and shoving, but Facundo takes the first shot. Nothing at all. Ninety seconds to go. Shot by Kennedy and he’s close. stalemate Good defense against Facundo. The intensity is obvious. These two guys know what’s at stake. Just a minute. Kennedy shoots again but Facundo defends. Kennedy puts Facundo in a bad position, but he stays strong. Ten seconds. Let’s go to rideouts.
FIRST TIE BREAKER
Kennedy escapes from Facundo in four seconds. Wow. That’s the start he needed in those rideouts. Facundo becomes neutral. He needs a takedown to win it. Facundo shoots in but Kennedy defends. four seconds. This one goes to the Hawk. It’s a big win for Iowa, but you have to respect Facundo’s confidence and determination. That was quite the game. We’re at 174 pounds.
