“Cobra Kai” Season 6: Renewed for Final Episodes, Netflix Release Date .com

Netflix is ringing the bell on Cobra Kai: The karate dramedy has been renewed for Season 6 – which will be its last, the streamer announced on Friday.

Despite what series creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg describe as “bittersweet” news, they’ve teased a potential franchise sequel “across the board.”

“Reintroducing the Karate Kid universe to the world has been our humble honor,” the creators said in a letter to fans. “It allowed us to play Sensei, expand on the original storylines, and spawn a new generation of misfits. We have never taken this opportunity for granted.

“Our goal for Day 1 with Cobra Kai has always been to finish on our terms and leave the Valley at the time and place we always envisioned. While this may be a bittersweet day for fandom, the Miyagiverse has never been stronger… We hope to share more Karate Kid stories with you later, because as we all know, Cobra Kai never dies.”

Speaking to TVLine in 2021, Schlossberg hinted that a potential spin-off might actually be on the horizon.

“Any permutation of spinoff or deep dive comes to mind,” he said at the time. “Everything has to be right and it has to have the same level of quality as Cobra Kai. Our minds are always on the Karate Kid, so that possibility is definitely out there.”

Cobra Kai debuted its 10-episode season 5 on September 9. This season saw Terry Silver’s (Thomas Ian Griffith) plans to expand his Cobra Kai empire come true when the Sensei’s “No Mercy” style of karate was taught across the valley. After Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) puts karate (temporarily) aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s caused, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) enlists the help of an old friend – former nemesis Chozen Toguchi (Yuji Okumoto ).
