Christian Dubé has no choice but to be successful

Minister of Health Christian Dubé announced on Tuesday presented us with his crisis team and three solutions to deal with the catastrophic situation currently raging in the emergency room.

Mr. Dubé’s calculation is relatively simple: fewer people will be admitted on an emergency basis, while he will try to have more beds available on the network.

The minister wants to renovate the state of emergency from the inside. For example, adding new human resources is out of the question.

We want to make what we have better: That is the task of the twenty-strong crisis team. A group that already has both hands in the dough.

Will they really do better this time?

Somewhere else

In a press conference, Mr. Dubé told us that 50% of emergency patients could go elsewhere. But the big question is: where to?

He also told us that 8-1-1 should be the entry point. He’s right, but most of the time when we call this number about our child, for example, we’re told to go to the emergency room.

Family medical groups (GMF) or children’s clinics should of course be the contact point for young people. But do these places still have vacancies? Not sure.

For a few months now, François Legault has been telling us how fortunate we are to have a manager like Christian Dubé at Health.

It is not wrong. On the other hand, there is the obligation to perform. Expectations are very high at the moment, but the conditions are ideal for Mr. Dubé.

The CAQ has received an extremely strong mandate and the population wants a change in health. An ideal scenario for the Minister of Health.

So if Christian Dubé fails, we can turn off the light. That means there’s nothing left to do.
