Healing: Chrissy Teigen, 37, touted the benefits of a postpartum belly wrap on Instagram on Friday, exactly a week after giving birth to her and John Legend’s new girl
According to New Life Birth Services, “The tummy tie is the tradition of wrapping the postpartum abdomen 2-4 days after a vaginal birth (or 10 days to 2 weeks after a cesarean).”
NLBS continues, “Nappies are typically performed daily for six weeks to provide physical support to the new mom.”
The tummy tie provides hip and lower back support and helps the mother recover much faster.

Chrissy opted for the most common type of abdominal tying, the Bengkung method, which involves tying “a series of knots in the pelvic and abdominal areas.”
The emotional and physical effects are so positive that many moms reportedly describe it as “one big hug.”
Legend first shared the happy news when he appeared at a private concert last Friday night and told the crowd that he and his wife welcomed “the little baby this morning.”
“What a blessed day,” the singer said, adding that while he “didn’t get much sleep,” he felt “excited” after spending “a lot of time” at Chrissy’s side in the hospital.
