China wanted to show US “decline,” says Senator Marco Rubio

Republican Senator Marco Rubio has claimed, according to the New York Post, that China deliberately flew a spy balloon over the United States to send the message that America was in “decline.”

“[ Les Chinois] did it voluntarily,” Marco Rubio told ABC News. They knew he would be spotted, they knew the US government had to release the information that people would see him in the sky. And the message they were getting are trying to send is what they believe internally: that the United States was once a superpower and the country is in decline.”

Florida state lawmakers don’t believe China’s excuses to justify the balloon in American airspace. Rubio is demanding an explanation from the Biden administration as to why the balloon wasn’t destroyed sooner.

“I’d love to hear military officials explain why this wasn’t addressed sooner,” he said. What were the options back then?

For his part, Ohio Republican-elect Mike Turner lamented the lack of a sense of urgency within the Biden administration. According to Turner, China wanted to receive militarily important information.

“There’s no excuse,” he decided […]. You should have been prepared. Aside from being caught off guard, they seem to be thinking, “Where will the ball go?” What are they trying to do? ”»
