Check out 5 artists who have sued TV Escola Educação

You probably know one of these famous, who have worked at TV Globo for years or even decades, but today only have one lawsuit left in court. The lawsuits are filed on multiple grounds: labor law reasons, unfair dismissal, copyright fights, payment of royalties, moral and material damage, and even for eating a live snack.

While Globo doesn’t comment on any of these lawsuits “sub judice,” it’s worth checking out this list of 5 artists who worked at TV Globo but ended up suing the channel after feeling unfairly treated.

Isabella Camargo

The journalist was fired after taking months off work in 2018 for treatment for burnout syndrome. Upon her return, Globo prevented Izabella Camargo from entering the station’s headquarters in São Paulo, despite a court order requiring her reinstatement. Access and reinstatement to the position were only cleared with a law enforcement officer. A few months later, Camargo left the channel forever, signing a deal worth 1 million reals.

Carolina Ferraz

Actress Carolina Ferraz, now a member of the Record team where she hosts the show Domingo Espetacular, sued TV Globo after 25 years as an actress at the station. The artist has appeared in Por Amor (1997), Pantanal (1990), Avenida Brasil (2012) and other productions, but recently announced that she no longer intends to act in soap operas.

The plaintiff has been taking legal action against the former broadcaster since 2017, when it was dismissed from its position. In this case, Carolina is seeking recognition of an employment relationship with all labor rights provided for in the CLT that has not been paid because she was hired as a legal entity.

Maite Proenca

Actress Maitê Proença also filed a lawsuit against Globo for the same reason as Carolina Ferraz. In this case, the artist was terminated in 2016 after serving the channel as a legal entity for 30 years. Proença has appeared in soap operas such as Felicidade (1996) and the remake of Gabriela (2012). The process of the two is still under judicial secrecy. But as far as is known, Proença has summoned his colleague to testify on his behalf.

Paul Coronato

Paulo Coronato, who found success in the soap opera Mulheres Apaixonadas (2003), linked a lawsuit against Globo to demands for access to documents related to the repetition of works he had collaborated on. The claim revolved around payment for his image rights and international sales, which would not transfer.

In this case, the broadcaster won the lawsuit because it cannot require the production of documents signed with others.

Fernando Vanucci

Sports announcer Fernando Vanucci, who sadly passed away in 2020, was fined and left the network for a mistake: being filmed live on Esporte Espetacular while downing a snack. Fernando Vanucci not only sued Globo for an oversight, but also received compensation of R$ 2 million for not having a job in 26 years of work at the channel.
