Billy is a hero’s name. This hero has no cloak but four legs. He lives in the city of Nottingham, England. And saved the life of her owner Sam Felstead, 42. She fell ill during the night and the cat would beat her chest to wake her up. The measure was essential for her to recognize her state of health and to see a doctor in time.
The woman had a heart attack. It was around 4:30 am when she was woken up by her sevenyearold cat. When he tried to get up, he found he couldn’t move his body and had a sharp pain in the right side of his chest. Gathering her strength, she managed to call her mother, Karen Felstead, for help.
She was rushed to the hospital. Doctors there said she had a heart attack while she was sleeping. Therefore, Sam believes that the cat saved his life.
When she found out about the diagnosis, she was shocked because the day before she was ready and went for a long walk with her dogs. Without pain he went to bed and lay down.
“Suddenly at dawn I woke up in a sweat and couldn’t move. Billy lay on my chest and meowed loudly in my ear.”
According to the Chron, the woman claimed Billy never acted like this. On the contrary, he has a habit of sleeping, “he sleeps all day and all night, that’s his life. He wouldn’t leave me,” he said.
“He never woke me up the night before, he never bothers me. He doesn’t wake me to eat.”
Karen was terrified of being woken up like that. And even more shocked to learn that Sam’s life was saved because of Billy’s attitude. “You don’t hear that in cats,” he said.
“I’m glad he woke me up. Who knows, if I had woken up without him, it might have been worse for me.”
After being called, Karen soon called for help. The ambulance arrived two hours later. Doctors discovered that one of Sam’s arteries was blocked, causing the heart attack. Sam was hospitalized for three days. And when he returned home, the cat was indifferent to his presence.
And despite the indifference, the woman did not stop offering him love. Because who knows what would become of her if it wasn’t for Billy. “He’s the same now, I’m just trying to give him a little bit more love,” she said.
“I’m grateful to him as I didn’t know if I would have woken up my alarm clock hadn’t gone for more than two hours so who knows if I would have woken up.”
Cat behavior expert Lucy Hoile said Billy may have noticed the physiological changes in his owner. “It could be that the fact that he jumps on her and meows is a sign of his fear,” says the specialist.
“I think he probably saved her life because it allowed her to get medical attention, but I wouldn’t say he did it on purpose.”
Billy is a true hero! He deserves to be loved by his family and of course to get lots of treats.
