Carrefour takes over the BBB 23 market and fills the former post of Americanas Splash

The BBB 23 Shop of the Week took place today with a new company running the supermarket service for attendees. After three years of Americanas in the position, Carrefour redebuted as the company putting the brand into action, resuming the space it had occupied until 2014.

Last week, the Americanas exited the BBB 23 sponsorship after the company revealed a deficit of at least R$20 billion. However, the company’s deal with Globo no longer specified the share of buy shares for the week as it has in recent years. The quota had already been sold to Carrefour at the beginning of last year, independently of the Americanas crisis.

For the 2023 edition of the program, Americanas had closed the main sponsorship quota and would pay around BRL105 million to fill one of the main quotas with a prominent spot in the program. Following the company’s withdrawal, Globo’s quota was sold to a new sponsor, Mercado Livre.

The marketplace in this edition was already reserved for Carrefour the network had sponsored the program’s purchases in previous editions. “Carrefour was the BBB’s first store and now it’s back with everything,” read director Bruna Griphao at the VIP group’s first purchases of the week.
