The TV star was formerly friends with the embattled Michelle, with the couple regularly having “great fun” on nights out before Baroness Mone married billionaire businessman Doug Barrowman.

It emerged last month that Vorderman, 62, had ended their friendship “a while ago,” but today marked the first time she’d broached the subject on national television.

However, a source close to the entrepreneur hit back at Carol today, branding her “publicity hungry” and calling the comments “outrageous”.

They added, “I really don’t understand why Carol launched this attack.”

Earlier this week, Carol opened up about her sex life during an appearance on Monday’s This Morning show, admitting they often start out as friends before there’s an “extra chill”.

Admitting her lovers “all know about each other,” she said her life has changed since she dreamed of being married to a man when she was 20.

Carol, who divorced her second husband Patrick King in 2000, continued to gushed about the arrangement, revealing she doesn’t get jealous as she “never asks about her partner’s personal life.”

She said: “They know about each other now. We must all be on the same page. They have their life and I don’t need to know about it.

She goes on to reveal that her only rule is always “do no harm”.

She said: “It was interesting that I talked about it [multiple partners] off the cuff, but the reactions were almost all positive.

“When I was in my 20s, I wanted to get married and have kids. In my 60s I have a full life and live with my children.

“I don’t want to settle for anyone, I love my job, the education business, a busy home. People don’t just want one partner, they’ve all been single. There’s a rule, don’t hurt anyone.

She continued: “The rules of society were very different and if a woman had a child without being married, it was awful.

“I went to Cambridge [University] at 17 and my mom sat me down and told me that i need to think about settling down to get married.

“I think after 50 you have to decide if you want to live with another man or if you want the nice parts.”

Admitting that she doesn’t need to know or have no idea about her partner’s personal life, even if they have their own friends.

“I’m only talking about it because there was such a reaction to it and a lot of people are shamed by society, so why not talk about it?”

‘Love can be very unhappy and is not the goal just to be happy.’
