THE Carnival 2023 will be a fresh start for revelers who can’t wait to hit the streets after two years without Momo celebrations Covid19 pandemic. However, the joy of towing a crowd will not be available to everyone. In Olindamany of the traditional blocks and sections will remain exposed.
THE Galicia in Folia Is one of them. The block was born from a friends football team who decided to travel 34 years ago uptown Sundays from carnival. The joke grew, reaching 500 participants in 2020 — the last time it came out.

The block cost around R$10,000, which involved buying shirts, hiring orchestras and organizing headquarters, and relied on donations which stopped coming.
“With the crisis and the pandemic, they no longer wanted to contribute. It was difficult to get a donation of R$ 200 or R$ 300 Reais […] It was boring and exhausting and I decided I wasn’t going to go through it anymore,” he said.
THE cement block, 40 years old, considered not participating in the 2023 carnival due to a lack of sponsors; However, President Ricardo Cutia, 58, has changed his mind and will pay for it with the help of revelers.
“My kids, friends, everyone asked for the block and said I couldn’t go. So all that’s missing is confirmation of the location, but it should happen on the same day, Carnival Sunday, and with the same structure,” says Cutia.
In 2020, more than 500 people were part of the cement block that began with a group of workers at a cement factory.
