In the town of Balanzone, the most famous mask of Emilia Romagna, we are preparing to experience the 2023 Carnival with floats and a special program of events.

Bologna Carnival 2023: information
Approaching the Carnival 2023one of the warmest celebrations for children and adults, which this year begins on February 5th and ends on February 21st. In Bologna, as in all Italian cities, there will be many special activities to celebrate the carnival, starting with the traditional ones Parade of allegorical chariots through the streets of the miraculous Old Town: from Piazza del Nettuno to Piazza del Popolo to Piazza Maggiore. Around the floats, fruit of the excellence of the papier-mâché masters, there is a riot of colors, music, masks with performances by folklore groups and masked groups staging old and new traditions. The dates are from February 5th to February 21st, Shrove Tuesday on February 16th, February 19th to Shrove Tuesday on February 21st.
It will then take place on Saturday, February 18th 19th Century Carnival with procession and dances under the arcades of Via Santo Stefano and Via Farini, departing from Piazza Carducci at 3 p.m., while at 4 p.m. the Nineteenth Century Ball takes place in Piazza Minghetti.
Carnival 2023 around Bologna
Not just Bologna. Other equally fascinating carnivals are also celebrated around the city. This year marks the 149th edition of the Ultracentenary Carnival of Persicet, known for its long carnival tradition (February 12-19). the carnival of Pieve di Cento, 30 km from Bologna, will take place on February 5th, 12th and 19th. the Carnival of Fantasy Vehicles to Imola reaches its 26th edition. The parade of original cars will take place on February 19th from the Enzo and Dino Ferrari International Circuit to Piazza Matteotti.
