Canadians: “We shot ourselves in the foot” -Joel Edmundson

The Canadian played a more than respectable first half of the season. It all came crashing down in the second third as the Panthers scored four goals in five power plays.

“We shot ourselves in the foot. It was a close game, then we got five penalties in the second period. You don’t win a game like that.”

Samuel Montembeault had his sixth consecutive start. He allowed five goals on 33 shots before Martin St-Louis sent Cayden Primeau into the fray for some action.

“Tonight we let him down. He’s been very good to us since Jake (Allen) was injured. With all these penalties, we shot ourselves in the foot. We have to stay away from the penalty area because it affects our confidence and that of our goalkeeper.

In the third period, the game almost got out of control. In the final moments of the game, Radko Gudas tried to take the knee out at the expense of Kirby Dach. A gesture Josh Anderson didn’t appreciate.

“He’s a bastard player. He’s been like this his whole career. That’s how he plays. If you’re playing like this, you’re trying to hurt players, at least you have to stand up and react.

Despite being out of the game and starting the third period 5-0, the Canadian refused to take the plog.

“We didn’t want to give up and give the fans something to eat. We know they spend a lot of money to join games.
