Irma, Eugenia, Miranda and Rina. The film, directed by Giuliana Gamba, tells the story of four women, four middle-aged friends with very different characters but linked by a long-standing friendship. A relationship cemented by the love for the game of burraco and characterized by their essential card games. Thanks to these meetings, the four friends get away from it all, exchanging gossip and confidences, trying to hide their needs and dissatisfaction. When the quartet decides To for a national Buraco tournament, they are pushed out of their routine and suddenly find themselves with their cards exposed. The director’s intention is not only to tell a multifaceted universe of women, but also to talk about second chances. To interpret the four friends we find as many well-known faces of Italian cinema: Claudia Gerini, Angela Finocchiaro, Paola Minaccioni, Caterina Guzzanti. The film was screened out of competition at Bifest 2020.
