Burgenland Tourism 2022: 3rd place in overnight stays Eisenstadt

After the difficult Corona years, the tourism situation in Burgenland recovered last year. With a solid 2.9 million overnight stays in the previous year, you can claim third place behind Carinthia and Styria in a federal state comparison. It is now about 7% below its 2019 all-time high.

BURGENLAND. According to current figures from Burgenland State Statistics, a total of 2,935,453 overnight stays were booked in Burgenland from January to December 2022. That’s 16.9% more than in 2021, still heavily influenced by the restrictions caused by the pandemic. But what has remained the same: in Burgenland there are still more guests from Austria than from abroad. Nearly 80% of all tourists came from Germany last year. The foreign guests who visited Burgenland came – as in previous years – mainly from Germany, Hungary or the Czech Republic.

Doskozil is in a good mood

The governor and tourism official is quite pleased with the state’s statistical numbers and hopeful. “Development is moving in the right direction and we are approaching the pre-crisis record level. It shows once again that our tourism experts and employees are doing great things to allow guests to have unforgettable holidays and moments of pleasure in our country. Thank you very much!”

Plans for 2023

With the my burgenland flagship store in Parndorf, as well as the Internet store of the same name (we report), we would like to further promote tourism in Burgenland. Around 600 Burgenland gourmet products, which will be available from April, aim to bring people closer to the federal state and its attractiveness. In addition, there will soon be the opportunity to apply for the Burgenland Tourism Employee Card. This allows tourism officials to use the benefits of the Burgenland Card free of charge (over 270 attractions with free entry and discounts). But good conditions alone should not lead to a good mood.

“The structural conditions are still not easy. These are and have been challenging times in tourism. We face them with full force and many new ideas and innovations to present our country, our regions and our business nationally and internationally and market them effectively”, says Didi Tunkel from Burgenland Tourismus.
