Broad Front Denounces Commitments of Costa Rica’s President-Elect

In its statement on the results of the second round of voting that elected Chaves as the new President of Costa Rica, the FA rejects any attempt to back down on human rights that would protect women, a sexually diverse population, inclusive health and education of all threatened people.

For this reason, the largest left-wing faction in Costa Rica calls on the President-elect of the Progressive Socialist Party “to take into account the historical bastion at the international level that we as a country have taken in these matters and not leave public institutions in the hands of those who try to go backwards.

It highlights that women are leading the most energetic movement lately because the quest for equality runs through our bodies and meets our needs as householders, professionals, students, workers, entrepreneurs, as women. “You are and will remain our guide!” he emphasizes.

He recalls that during this election process the FA delivered a message of hope, renewal and new leadership. We have worked within a democratic agenda that we will defend, deepen and develop to the best of our ability to achieve a more just and prosperous society, he stresses.

“Our population, particularly those suffering the gravest consequences of an exclusive and unfair development model, has made a persistent call to be heard, represented and respected. We will continue at your side! », the FA text assures.

Pointing out that as Broad Front we make a commitment to being a common home not only for all the movements and collective organizations that are struggling, but for every Costa Rican who wants to improve their daily lives, he reiterates that its doors stand open build, work, resist and fight.

We call on you, he stresses, to join us in defending institutions against the dismantling of the state, fighting corruption, the impoverishment of workers’ rights, environmental degradation and violence against women.
