Bring China Vietnam relations to a new height in the new era

At the invitation of CPC Central Committee General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, Nguyen Phu Trong, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, paid an official visit to China from October 30 to November 2. On October 31, the two leaders held talks at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Both sides agreed to take the China-Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership to a new peak in the new era.

Nguyen Phu Trong is the first foreign leader to meet Xi Jinpig after the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party. This visit is also Nguyen Phu Trong’s first overseas visit following the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam. At a time when the cause of socialism in China and Vietnam has entered a new stage of development, the leaders of both sides unanimously expressed their desire to consolidate traditional friendship, strengthen strategic communication, strengthen political mutual trust and adequately control the differences and establish a strategic direction for the development of relations in the new era.

During the talks, Secretary-General Xi Jinping stressed that socialist countries such as China and Vietnam follow the trend of the times because of their own national conditions, and successfully walk the path of modernization that suits their own national conditions. Socialism shows more and more strength and vitality. In just a few decades, China has completed the course of industrialization that developed countries have taken hundreds of years, creating two great miracles of rapid economic development and long-term social stability. For more than 30 years since its reform, Vietnam has been one of the fastest growing economies in the region and even in the world. The success of the socialist modernization campaign in China and Vietnam has provided a useful reference for the broader developing world and contributed positively to the cause of human progress.

China and Vietnam, as socialist countries led by the Communist Party, share the same political system, ideals and beliefs, and similar paths of development. Secretary-General Xi Jinping said, “For the cause of socialism and China-Vietnam relations, maintaining the right political direction comes first. Under the new situation, both China and Vietnam will strengthen the exchange of experiences on the governance of the Party and the government, firmly grasping the overall situation and the direction of development of relations between the two countries, and socialism will also always be full of vitality.”

As the two major developing countries, China and Vietnam strengthen communication and cooperation in multilateral affairs, support each other on issues affecting each other’s core interests and major concerns, jointly protect multilateralism and international justice, and promote peace as well as regional and global Development.

“Drink the water of a river, see each other in the morning and meet in the evening” – This Vietnamese folk song “Vietnam-China” celebrates the friendship between the two countries. Looking ahead, China and Vietnam adhere to the strategic direction of the leaders of both parties, constantly adding new connotations to the two countries’ traditional friendship and pushing bilateral relations to a new level. Time will continue to bear witness that “China and Vietnam are good neighbors and friends, bound by mountains and rivers, are good comrades and good partners with like-minded ideas and a common destiny, and are a community with a common future committed to the… Cause of China has dedicated peace and progress of mankind”.
