Not good news, but things could have been worse for the Tigers.
Clemson defensive coordinator Wes Goodwin confirmed after Monday’s practice that Xavier Thomas suffered a foot injury in Saturday’s scrimmage.
Goodwin says Thomas is expected to be out between 4 and 6 weeks to deal with this injury.
“He had a great camp and was in a great place physically,” Goodwin told the media. “Unfortunate setback but he has the right attitude and will react and bring him back early in the year.”
Thomas could be back in action around the Wake Forest or North Carolina State game, depending on rehab and foot reaction. Today he will be operated.
In 2021, Thomas was a third-team All-ACC selection credited with 27 tackles, including 5.5 for losses, 3.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and a pass-break break in 476 snaps in 12 games.
He has 112 tackles in his Clemson career, including 27.5 for losses, 12.5 sacks, five pass separations and four forced fumbles.
Small thing for a GIANT. The work doesn’t stop! I’ll be right back. God got the child❤️
