It was the Quebec Police Service (SPVQ) property crime investigators who launched an investigation into the matter in late November.

“During the investigation, the investigators’ expertise in this type of crime made it possible to identify the suspect,” specifies David Poitras, spokesman for the SPVQ.

The following months then made it possible to collect the necessary evidence for his arrest. Authorities have been able to link him to at least seven similar cases so far.

The person in question was still active until last Tuesday when he broke into a building on Boulevard Charest Est.

“The suspect was questioned by investigators and released with a promise to appear at a later date subject to a number of conditions to be met,” Mr Poitras said.
