Brazil: Confrontation between President Jair Bolsonaro and a Youtuber who insults him and films the scene

In the middle of the election campaign, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was arrested by a YouTuber who filmed the scene. The latter also insulted the head of state, who tried to take his phone before chatting with him.

A dispute in the middle of the presidential election campaign. This Thursday, Jair Bolsonaro, the President of Brazil, had an altercation with a young Youtuber who challenged and insulted him while filming the scene. After trying to get his phone out of him, the head of state started talking to him.

The Youtuber has been identified as Wilker Leao, a Brazilian videographer with nearly 25,000 subscribers. He is also followed by 127,000 people on Tik Tok. His YouTube banner reads “Talk about militarism, political law and society”.

“Coward, Tramp”

The scene lasted only a few minutes. In a video posted by news site G1, the Youtuber can be seen approaching President Bolsonaro, who is taking photos with his supporters. He then asked him about the alliance with the Centrao, a group of centre-right parties accused of trading political support for benefits.

Wilker Leao was initially pushed aside by a single person and thrown to the ground. But when he stood up, he called the Brazilian president a “coward”, a “vagrant” and a “centrao whore”.

Jair Bolsonaro then got out of his car and tried to grab the Youtuber’s cell phone. Then, faced with her failure, he said to her, “Come here, I want to talk to you” and grabbed her by the collar. The two men then chatted, Bolsonaro declaring he had to “get things through Parliament, right?” before driving off in his car.

In October, Jair Bolsonaro will stand as a candidate for re-election in the Brazilian presidential elections. He will face Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, former left-wing president from 2003 to 2010.
