Brady Quinn absolutely obliterates Jets QB Zach Wilson

Former NFL quarterback Brady Quinn isn’t pulling his car in front of Zach Wilson’s love train.

The Notre Dame graduate, who played seven seasons in the league before moving to broadcast, snubbed the Jets’ signal caller this week as a sophomore, lamenting that he “didn’t see a quarterback get more love when.” he does less”.

“Can we acknowledge once again that the media is constantly trying to make something out of this? They want this to work so badly and it’s honestly quite difficult to listen to,” Quinn said on Monday’s episode of Fox Sports Radio’s “Two Pros and a Cup of Joe.”

“I haven’t seen a quarterback get more media love for doing less than Zach Wilson in a long time.”

Wilson, the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, according to Quinn, had a “terrible” performance in Friday’s preseason opener against the Eagles before going down with an injury. Before his exit, the former BYU product, 23, completed 3 of 5 attempts with an interception.

The 37-year-old Quinn’s own NFL career was also widely smiled at by the media. The highly touted Heisman nominee was a 2007 first-round pick for the Browns. He finished his career with 3,043 passing yards, 12 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. Wilson threw for 2,334 yards, nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions in his rookie season.

Noting his concerns about Wilson’s size, Quinn compared his interception in last week’s 24-21 win over Philadelphia to a newly minted quarterback taking the field for the first time.

“The interception he threw in that game looked like day one. Game one, year one, he was staring at a target and it was [Eagles linebacker] Kyzir White finally made it and I’m leaving, that’s as easy as it gets,” Quinn said.

Though wishing a speedy recovery after his successful arthroscopic knee surgery on Tuesday, Quinn Wilson suggested the Jets “would be better” with a certain Bay Area quarterback.

“You’d be better off with Jimmy G. [Garoppolo] at quarterback, but they’re not going to make that move because they’ve invested so much in Zach Wilson so far,” he said.

While Wilson’s exact return timeline is unclear, he is expected to miss two to four weeks, with veteran quarterback Joe Flacco likely taking the reins in Week 1 against the Ravens.
