According to doctors at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Kaiyin is still at risk of becoming a quadriplegic as a result of the accident and may not be able to move from neck to feet. The boy was crushed by one of the five screens in the performance he was putting on at the Hong Kong Coliseum. The projector hit the third and fourth sections of the dancer’s cervical vertebrae, and the collision also caused head and lung injuries.

The incident is still under investigation and officials said the Hong Kong Ministry of Recreation and Culture has already conducted two task force visits to the scene of the accident. According to the investigators, new knowledge was gained about the possible cause of the technical error that led to the crash of the LED panel. As evidence, police collected six screens, their respective support frames, and a broken screw at the scene. The task force also determined that one of the metal cables holding the screen broke, causing the fall.
