Boninho is not living his best days at Globo and has threatened a job

JB de Oliveira, aka Boninho, aware that he’s not having his best period at Globo, started looking for opportunities in the market, mainly with broadcasters that were looking for him in the past and he finally turned it down. But the column found that in midJune, the director of the Rating Leader’s reality center spoke to the band’s owners to discuss their future on television.

I know that Boninho will go public with this information, but I’ll say it right away: the meeting with Johnny Saad took place in person in São Paulo. And as much as the secrecy of the meeting had been implied, people very close to the band’s president knew about this meeting. And that’s how the column got the information.

Band plans to expand its presence in the entertainment space, particularly in the realities space. Boninho, which is an excellent adapter for international formats, is seen as a fundamental element for the growth of the Morumbi neighborhood station in this segment.

The discussions took place in an informal tone. There was no official offer from Johnny to Boninho, nor did the director make a formal application to the businessman. However, both expressed interest in a future partnership.

Ideas were presented for formats that could be successful in the band, even a suggestion to reformulate the schedule and add “globoweight” presenters to their curriculum to increase their artistic and commercial potential.

However, the impasse occurs for a single reason: lack of funds to invest in Boninho and in the projects he proposed to Johnny. This year, the channel does not intend to invest in other programs. The instruction is to hold the till so you don’t have excessive spending. Only the sitcom Nóis Na Firma is new. There are no new projects on the horizon for the band.

The scenario could change if Boninho arrived at the station with guaranteed sponsors, like Fausto Silva did with his Faustão in Band. But for that, the director of Globo would have to show himself too much in the market, and he still has a connection to the Marinho family network.

The fact is, the conversation took place. But with Band, the money factor made it impossible to formalize a proposal for the time being. But Boninho is still on Johnny’s radar. And if he decides to leave Globo next year (which is most likely), the competitor’s doors are open to him.

The column searched Boninho on social media for more than a month, but to date he has never responded. The band has also not manifested as of the publication of this news.
