“I share and provide tools and techniques that have worked for me,” she said of her book, which is published by Briton Publishing.

The Cannes Film Festival favorite added: “My book is an autobiography and I share something about childhood poverty, abuse and how I overcame it. I think it will motivate readers when they get into a bad situation.’

She was isolated throughout her painful adolescence and never had the support she really needed, especially at school.

“I never told my classmates about our poverty and life in a garage because I wanted to be treated the same as them – a normal kid! Nobody knew, not even the teachers.”

“He even put his gun to our mother’s head and threatened to shoot her right in front of our eyes. We were all afraid of him, especially our mother. We were all crying and trying to protect our mother who he had pushed to bed and we surrounded her and begged him not to shoot.

“His anger and uncontrolled rage was just because she asked him to give her money to buy us food when suddenly he drove off.

“It continued when we were older. He went to attack me when our mother was dying, but this time I stood up to him and dared him to touch me. Now that I was older, I wasn’t afraid of him anymore. He backed away, shocked that I challenged him!’

Blanco was born in Watsonville, California.

Her family moved to southwest Mexico when she was three years old.

Her father was a police officer there and was shot twice, forcing the family to return to the US to hopefully live the American dream. Blanca was nine years old.

Her family of seven lived in poverty their entire childhood, living in a small garage with no hot water, no shower, and no heat while facing the cold Washington state winters.

They then moved into a tiny trailer at a small trailer park, often with unsafe water that caused illness.

She then attended Washington State University with a 4.0 GPA and earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology followed by a master’s degree in social work from Eastern Washington State University.
