Bizou is closing its doors

Bizou jewelry and accessories stores are closing their doors.

According to EnBeauce.com, citing a confidential source, employees learned the news yesterday.

Around 50 branches remained from the chain, which had taken refuge from its creditors in October 2020. A few months later, 24 of the 85 stores had closed in hopes of getting business going again. The loss of customers associated with the curfew and the shift of purchases to digital caused the financial difficulties of the trade.

Founded in Sainte-Marie-de-Beauce in 1982, Bizou International did not publicly announce these new closures and employees would have been aware of their summary dismissal.

Journal’s calls and emails to headquarters went unanswered. This morning customer service was still responsive but the rep we spoke to seemed ignorant. Calls were forwarded to voicemail this afternoon.

Afternoon calls to branches in Montreal, Quebec and Saguenay went nowhere.

The Ernst & Young bankruptcy trustee who processed the 2020 file was no longer with Bizou and knew nothing about this sad outcome.
