US President Joe Biden arrived in Kiev on Monday for an unannounced visit. There he met with the head of state Volodymyr Zelenskiy, as seen in videos on social networks. The visit, four days before the first anniversary of the start of the war, was kept secret for security reasons.
There were already rumors in the morning about a visit by Biden, fueled by Ukrainian Vice Chancellor Andriy Melnyk. He announced the visit of “Ukraine’s main partner” to Kiev and spoke of a big “surprise”.
Meanwhile, media and social media users reported extensive roadblocks in the Ukrainian capital, and a long line of cars was seen near the US embassy.
