Best Tips, Mistakes to Avoid When Traveling During Pregnancy

After receiving her blessings, I began to travel. During my pregnancy I spent some time in Ecuador, the Galápagos Islands, Lebanon and France.

My experience of traveling abroad while pregnant began with a last minute opportunity to go to the Galápagos for work. I was five months pregnant and my husband and I spent 10 days exploring the western Galápagos Islands on a luxury cruise, swinging with pups of sea lions, watching the courtship dance of blue-footed boobies and feeding baby sharks. After the cruise we spent a week exploring Ecuador.

Seven months pregnant we went to Beirut, Lebanon for four weeks and our experience was the polar opposite of the Galápagos trip. My husband and I spent our time hauling skateboards in and out of taxis and helping build his skate park, although I spent more time escaping the heat under the shade of a tree than working.

Then, eight months pregnant, we arrived in Paris, France, which felt like coming home. I lived there for a while in 2016 and then again in 2019. This time we weren’t traveling for work, but for ourselves. We hit up our old haunts, caught up with friends and ate at our favorite falafel take-out restaurant, L’As du Fallafel.
