Lindsay Shookus has announced she is leaving Saturday Night Live after twenty years with the show.
The news about the 42-year-old producer and program’s head of talent was revealed by Deadline, and it was reported that despite being offered a promotion, she felt it was the right time to leave the programme.
The news about the entertainment industry figure was announced during her former partner Ben Affleck’s second wedding weekend.

Shookus had stayed with Saturday Night Live for 20 years, including 10 as a producer.
She created a diversity scholarship at SNL in 2020 and will continue to be involved with the program.
The entertainment industry figure also issued a statement to Deadline, expressing how excited she is to leave the “wild nightlife” behind and focus on raising her nine-year-old daughter, Maddie.
She said, “When I started in 2002, I was a baby from Buffalo, NY who knew nothing about the business other than that I was dying to be a part of it in some way.”

Shookus went on to say that she was grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the long-running sketch comedy program.
“I’ve found my place at SNL and have spent the last two decades developing the most incredible friendships and memories alongside some truly brilliant and talented people,” she said.
She then wrote that she was grateful for the help and support she had received from her co-workers over the years.
“There are so many of you – too many to name – but please know that I will always be grateful for each and every one of you and will never take for granted how special those moments and lessons were.”

Shookus concluded her statement by saying that she was optimistic about her near future.

Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels also issued a statement, speaking about the producer’s accomplishments.
