Belgium: Two babies found amid backpacks at water park

Two young children were discovered alone and “barely conscious” between backpacks at a Belgian theme park on Sunday. Her parents were at the park.

Two babies, one of them a year and a half old, were discovered between backpacks at a Belgian water park on Sunday evening, reports the daily Het Laatste Nieuws. The two children were found by an employee at Plopsaqua theme park in Landen-Hannuit, in the center of the country, lying on the ground where customers are leaving backpacks unattended.

“They didn’t look very healthy,” a witness to the scene told the newspaper. According to him, one of the babies looked unconscious when it got stuck in the middle of the bags.

The water park staff, searching for the parents, called emergency services and the police. The two children were taken to the hospital to assess their health.

Found parents in the park

An investigation was launched, but police were able to locate the two parents after about twenty minutes of research in the park.

“They were angry that an ambulance was called, but given the condition of the children, that was the only thing to do,” said Gino Debroux, Landen Mayor.
