She said she was turned down by Marvel “several times.”
SheHulk: Defender of Heroes debuted this week on Disney+ starring Tatiana Maslany as the lead in the new series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but a few years ago the actress was almost in another hero movie: poison2018, as a character she described as righteous “Venom’s Girlfriend”.
Appearing on the Comedy Bang Bang Podcast (via MovieWeb) Maslany spoke about previously attempting to break into another Marvel franchise, more specifically the Sony universe of SpiderMan characters. When asked if Marvel was after her, she replied: “Actually, I was after them,” also revealing: “They turned me down several times.”

Soon after, she explained that she auditioned poison, on one role that was left out of the film, of a character that would be Venom’s love interest. Unlike Anne Weyng, the character created by Michelle Williams, she would only be Venom’s love interest.

Moderator: “What movie did you audition for?”
Maslany: “Poison. Unfortunately not for Venom. But for Venom’s girlfriend or something.”
Moderator: “Venom’s girlfriend?”
Maslany: (laughs) “Yes.”
Moderator: “Not even Tom Hardy’s girlfriend Eddie Brock? Venom’s girlfriend only?”
Maslany: (still laughing) “Only Venom’s girlfriend. The symbiote’s girlfriend.”
Moderator: “Who did Venom want to date?”
Maslany: “She was cut from the film” (laughs)
So, at some point in the development of poison, The symbiote fell in love with a character, but she ended up being cut from the film which was great Maslany, Since then she has been able to play one of the greatest heroines of Wonder in a series created by Marvel Studios itself.
