One follower gushed, “Elvis, was one of the best moments of 2022,” while another said, “Can’t wait to see what you come up with next.”

It comes after Baz said it will be some time before fans can see a four-hour version of his box-office hit Elvis, which he promised shortly after the film’s release in June.

The Sydney-born director explained the main reason for the wait is that he is too tired to complete the necessary work.

Luhrmann said his social media was inundated with demands to see the extended version of the film, which grossed US$284 million (AUD419.6 million) worldwide.

He said he is not ready to work on the film again next year or until 2023.

“Tell you what, all my tweets are nothing more than ‘We want the four hour version, we want the four hour version,'” he said in an interview with Screen Rant.

Filmed in Queensland, the critically acclaimed Elvis biopic stars Austin Butler as Elvis, Olivia de Jong as his wife Priscilla and Tom Hanks as the king’s infamous manager, Colonel Tom Parker.

The film follows Elvis from his childhood years of poverty through his rise to global superstardom before his untimely death at the age of 42 in 1977.
