Barbie Ferreira closed the series “Euphoria” Rumors of enmity: “not true”

Barbie Ferreira recently told Insider that many of the reports that there was tension during the filming of the second season of Euphoria are not true. Ferreira has been the subject of several rumors that she was feuding with series creator Sam Levinson over the direction of her character Kat. An alleged falling out between Ferreira and Levinson reportedly resulted in Kat getting less screen time in the second season and Ferreira walking off the set. HBO denied rumors that Ferreira had left the set.

“What’s interesting about this season is that there are so many people watching it that even the news cycle was so interesting to watch,” Ferreira said after the show’s second season finale. “I’ve seen so many different things, and a lot of it isn’t true, and some of it looks like everyday little things.”

“I really think the fans are really passionate and I appreciate that because Euphoria has really affected so many people,” Ferreira added. “Sometimes things take on a life of their own and they’re not based on truth, but that’s okay because I know it’s just out of passion and curiosity and all that good stuff. And I signed up for it. So, I’ll take it. I’ll take the good and the bad.”

Last week, the Daily Beast published a report in which supporting cast members of the series claimed that the series had toxic working conditions and that “many complaints were made to SAG-AFTRA that the production did not provide them with food on time and turned people away.” use the bathroom”, among other charges. Levinson’s decision not to film each episode with a shot list also reportedly caused tension, as it led to long hours on cast and crew.

HBO denied reports that Euphoria season 2 was toxic by sending Variety the following statement: “The well-being of the cast and crew in our productions is always a top priority. Production was carried out in full compliance with all safety regulations and guild protocols. It’s not uncommon for drama series to have complex filming, and COVID protocols add an extra layer. We maintain an open line of communication with all guilds, including SAG-AFTRA. There have been no official investigations.”

Ferreira’s co-star Jacob Elordi also defended the series’ long hours of filming. “We make films, you know what I mean?” he told Variety. “I mean, broadly speaking, it’s filmmaking. And although you should not suffer, hard work is of great importance to me … For me, long hours of work are like the greatest joy. And they take care of us. This is my family. If I work long hours, then Sam works twice as long and Zendaya works three times as long. We are all together”.

Euphoria became HBO’s second most popular original series in its second season, behind only the fantasy blockbuster Game of Thrones. The series will later return with a third season. Ferreira told Insider she hopes the new episodes will further explore “Kat’s inner fantasy life.”

“I hope to see her relationship with herself, with the Internet, with friends,” Ferreira said. “I hope to see all the beautiful development that always happens on Euphoria. I am excited to read this. I don’t think it’s written yet, so I’ll be waiting.”

The first two seasons of Euphoria air on HBO Max.
