Earlier this week, it was announced that the hit film is also the highest-grossing film in Warner Bros. history.

The film, starring Margo Robbie as the title character and Ryan Gosling as her “boyfriend” Ken, broke the record set by 2011’s “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” which grossed $1.31 billion.

Plus, Barbie is sure to see another increase in ticket sales with its release in IMAX on September 22nd.

The news was good news for parent company Warner Bros. Discovery, whose shares ended up nearly four percent.

Greta Gerwig’s film was released on the same day as the war drama Oppenheimer, with the Christopher Nolan-directed epic becoming the second highest-rated R-rated film in history this week.

Oppenheimer has now raked in a reported $787 million at the box office, surpassing the record set by Ryan Reynolds’ 2018 hit Deadpool 2, which grossed $785 million and was also rated unsuitable for audiences under 17 .

That means the Cillian Murphy-starring drama sits just behind Joker on the list of highest-grossing R-rated films of all time, which became the first film of its kind to hit the mark following its release in 2019 passed the $1 billion mark.
