New Mexico prosecutors want to charge actor Alec Baldwin after he was shot dead while filming a movie. Halyna Hutchins (42), chief camera, was fatally injured while filming the western “Rust” at a Santa Fe movie ranch on Oct. 21, 2021. Baldwin, who starred in and produced the film, was holding a gun rehearsing for a scene when a shot went off. Research showed that the Colt had a real bullet in it.

Baldwin always denied responsibility for the terrible accident. Police targeted the officials responsible for securing the weapons, including a weapons master and an assistant warden who presented the weapon to Baldwin.

Alec Baldwin pleaded not guilty

“If any one of those three people – Alec Baldwin, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed or David Halls – had done their job, Halyna Hutchins would be alive today. It’s just that simple,” said Andrea Reeb, special prosecutor in charge. “The evidence clearly shows a pattern of criminal disregard for safety on the ‘Rust’ movie set. There is no place in New Mexico for movie sets that do not take seriously our state’s commitment to public safety and guns,” added the promoter. Both Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed face up to five years in prison if convicted.

Baldwin, 64, accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the western film Rust on Oct. 21, 2021. For the past 15 months, he has vehemently denied responsibility for the accident. He repeatedly emphasized – contrary to a different FBI forensic analysis – that he had not pulled the trigger.
