Ban on gas appliances: “Mayor Plante wants to advertise,” says Carole Morin –

Valérie Plante may have to deal with a whole angry lobby in the coming weeks. The City of Montreal’s Water, Environment, Sustainable Development and Large Parks Commission recommends ending gas stoves and ovens “as soon as possible.” It goes without saying that the heating professionals took the news like a cold rain shower.

At the mic of Mario Dumont, on QUB Radio, Boutique Chaleur director Carole Morin was outraged by this decision. In her opinion, the Plante administration not only goes too far, but also too quickly.

“I don’t know where she studies,” Ms. Morin said.

The association of heating professionals was never consulted. However, APC has been training installers of fuel-powered appliances, whether they run on wood, gas or oil, for 40 years.

However, according to Carole Morin, gas appliances burn 99.9% of all particles. They are also sealed so that no particles can get inside the building.

“I don’t understand. I don’t understand where they did their tests,” wondered the director of Boutique Chaleur.
Ms. Morin said that the new devices are extremely efficient and safe and that nothing justifies such a decision by the Plante administration.
