New US firearms tragedy. A 15-year-old girl was accidentally killed by a 9-year-old boy while playing with a loaded gun. The incident happened around 8 p.m. local time in Baltimore on Saturday evening. According to police, Nykayla Strawder was on her porch in Edmondson Village when she was shot in the head and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
The boy played with a loaded gun belonging to a relative who works as an armed guard and was shot. According to the Baltimore Sun, he dropped the gun and escaped immediately after the tragedy, but he will not be prosecuted given his young age.
“I want the kids to be safer, get rid of these guns,” the girl’s mother, Nykerah Strawder, said tearfully. “I lost my daughter, I will never be the same again.”
