Some seven thousand people have gathered since last night at a rave party taking place in the municipality of Sarral in Tarragona, prompting the Mossos to arrest two people for assaulting an agent as they attempted to skip a police checkpoint. The police also confiscated various material intended for the party, especially music equipment.

The festival takes place around the hermitage of Sants Metges in Sarral, an area where a multitude of cars and caravans are parked. Local sources have reported that the latest estimate of participants in the party is around 7,000 people, an avalanche before which the city council is erecting New Jersey-style barriers at the city’s entrances to prevent the arrival of new participants.

For their part, the Mossos have reported that agents from the ARRO unit and the Traffic Service have been maintaining access controls to the party on various roads since Friday night, particularly on the AP-2 highway, where breathalyser tests are also being carried out. The Catalan police will maintain access control to the party originally planned for the whole weekend.

Miami: She smashes a $42,000 sculpture

A woman accidentally smashed a balloon dog sculpture at an art gallery in Miami, US, causing $42,000 (C$57,000) in damage.

It was Jeff Koons who made this sculpture famous and the fragility of this sculpture was proven on Thursday when visitors to an art fair saw the blue porcelain sculpture fall to the ground and shatter into pieces.

The dog, who was 16 inches tall and 19 inches long, was perched on a transparent base at Art Wynwood, an art fair in downtown Miami where more than 50 American and foreign galleries are exhibiting work through Sunday.

“Before I realized they were picking up the Jeff Koons pieces with a broom,” artist and art collector Stephen Gamson said Saturday.

Mr Gamson said he was about to present the sculpture to his group when he saw a woman touch the sculpture with her finger and knock it off the pedestal.

The scene was like “a car crash on the freeway when people are watching and the traffic picks up and it becomes big business,” he added.

As an art collector, he saw an opportunity and asked the gallery owner if she wanted to sell the pieces. He is still waiting for an answer to his offer.

On the way to record participation: A “clear success” for the opening of the Pentathlon des Neiges

The Pentathlon des Neiges got underway on Saturday and this year’s edition could very well beat its attendance record set in March 2020, just before the pandemic began.

New General Manager Cynthia Paquet did not hesitate to describe the first day of the event as a “great success”.

“We are very fortunate because after the pandemic there are events that are struggling to regain their attendance and participation rate. […] We hope to do even better next year,” she points out, while only about forty registrations are missing to reach the 2020 mark, for a total of 6,156 people.

Participants and spectators came to the site in their hundreds on Saturday. The first three events of the weekend passed off in good spirits despite the chilling February wind blowing across the Plains of Abraham.

“We had a great day. The two challenges this morning and one this afternoon went very well. I think the spectators and the participants are very happy,” continues the one who is leading her first winter pentathlon.

A lot of work

She claims snow grooming teams have had to work hard to tame the unexpected amounts of snow that fell on the Quebec region during the day on Friday.

“Of course, the courses were a bit softer than expected because of the snow, but we worked hard to offer the best possible conditions,” supports the DG.

Ms. Paquet also wanted to highlight the City of Quebec’s efforts to clear snow from the roads surrounding the Plains of Abraham.

The lack of maintenance last weekend, when the Carnaval de Quebec and the Tournoi International de Hockey Pee-Wee de Quebec were in full swing, had caused displeasure among the population.

victory among friends

The first team to cross the finish line of the Short Distance Team Challenge, the Quillés, completed the course in five stages with a time of 1h31m7s. The five friends, in their 20s, finished 9th after a bumpy start .6 km long cycle race took first place out of 193 teams.

Whoever climbed into the saddle, Xavier Asselin, bears all the blame. “That was our most difficult stage. Luckily we managed to climb the slope in the following ones,” he explains.

His brother Edward instead believes it is the mount that is responsible for the Skittles’ slow start. “It’s the bike I use every day to get around […] it’s rather rudimentary,” jokes his eldest.

After 14th place, the five companions started in the snowshoeing, skating, skiing and running disciplines to climb to the top step of the podium. Last year, the two Asselin brothers and their friend Félix Bédard took third place over the short distance with two other teammates. The addition of skater Alexis Marceau and cross-country skier Thomas Csisztu will have made the difference this year,

“We’re here mostly for fun, we’re a group of friends spending the weekend in Quebec. After third place we wanted to get first place and we worked hard for it. concludes Xavier Asselin.

Chick-fil-A wakes up! Famed conservative fast-food chain tests $7 VEGAN sandwich

Chick-fil-A wakes up! A well-known conservative fast-food chain is testing a $7 plant-based cauliflower sandwich that’s more expensive than the chicken original

  • The 77-year-old fast-food chain announced on Feb. 13 that they were testing a Chick-fil-A cauliflower sandwich at three locations
  • residents of Denver, Colorado; Charleston, South Carolina; and Greensboro, North Carolina can sample the new offering
  • The new sandwich has deeply divided fast-food lovers, with some welcoming it, others saying it’s a silly sideline to its core offering

Fast-food lovers are deeply divided over the launch of a new Chick-fil-A cauliflower sandwich, with some welcoming the addition while others reacted in horror at the 77-year-old chain’s “waking up”.

The Atlanta, Georgia-based, family-owned company announced on Feb. 13 that it is testing the new plant-based sandwich in three locations: Denver, Colorado; Charleston, South Carolina and Greensboro, North Carolina.

The $7 sandwich doesn’t contain any meat but isn’t considered fully vegetarian “due to its cooking environment,” Chick-fil-A said. A standard Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich can be as low as $3.05 in cities testing the plant-based newcomer

Cauliflower is breaded and fried in peanut oil and served with pickles in a toasted bun — but the sandwich isn’t considered vegetarian or vegan because it’s cooked in oil, which is also used to fry chicken sandwiches.

The company has yet to respond to ‘s question as to whether it was cooked in the same oil as their chicken.

“The cauliflower sandwich is plant-centric as it puts a tender fillet of a whole cauliflower at the center of the main course,” the company said.

“It’s a great option for those who want to include more vegetables in their diet without sacrificing the Chick-fil-A flavors they know and love.”

Some have reacted with surprise at Chick-fil-A’s conservative stance.

The company’s founder, Truett Cathy, was a fervent Christian and insisted its restaurants be closed on Sundays – as they remain to this day.

Her company’s mission statement states that her goal is “to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all entrusted to us and to be a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A .”

Foodies have posted their reactions to the sandwich online.

A TikToker, @morganchompz, posted her own video review on Tuesday, with the clip going viral with over 1.7 million views.

“It really looks like a regular chicken sandwich, but it smells like cauliflower,” she said, adding that it was high in breading but low in actual cauliflower.

Their final verdict was that the sandwich tasted mostly like a “pan filet.”

Others on Twitter complained that the company was deviating from its core offering and indulging in new fads.

“Wow the Christian company @Chick-fil-A woke up too,” said one.

Another added: “You do not allow comments on your original tweet. That tells me everything I need to know. Don’t spend another cent on your alert agenda.”

And another said, ‘Although I don’t mind cauliflower… Hell, I’ll go to a chicken restaurant and order cauliflower.’

Others were more supportive of the launch.

“It’s not awakened to having that option,” one man pointed out.

“There are conservatives like me who are also vegetarians and vegans. If I find one I’ll try it and see how it holds up. No big deal really. If it works, it works. It’s good to have another option besides salad.’

Another added: “People have strong feelings about this! No one is taking away your chicken sandwiches or forcing you to eat them, it’s just a new option.”

And another explained: “I’ve waited so long!!

“I love the veggie wrap, but I also wanted a sandwich! I’m so excited! Please keep it on the menu and take it to every @Chick-fil-A in the States…especially Waterloo, Iowa!

Syria says 5 dead, 15 wounded in Israeli attack on Damascus residential area

The Israeli Air Force carried out an attack on a residential area in Damascus late Saturday night, killing five people and wounding 15 others, Syrian state news agency SANA reported.

There was no comment from the Israel Defense Forces, in line with their policy of not commenting on airstrikes in the country in general.

Citing a military source, SANA said the attack on the Kafar Sousah neighborhood in the Syrian capital killed four civilians and a soldier and wounded another 15 civilians. Several of the wounded were said to be in critical condition.

Some unconfirmed Syrian media reports put the death toll higher.

The airstrike also inflicted severe damage on several residential buildings in Kafar Sousah, SANA said.

Pictures and videos from the Damascus neighborhood showed severe damage to several buildings.

SANA claimed Syrian air defenses managed to intercept “most” of the missiles fired by IAF jets in the attack over the Golan Heights. Syria regularly claims to intercept Israeli missiles, although military analysts have disputed such claims.

filming from northern Israel appeared to show a Syrian anti-aircraft missile exploding over the Golan Heights.

Orient News, a Syrian opposition media outlet, claimed the attacks were aimed at Iranian militiamen at the so-called Iranian school in Kafar Sousah.

Separately, the Israeli jets were targeting Iranian and Syrian regime military bases near Damascus International Airport, as well as Sitt Zaynab and al-Kiswah, a town south of the capital, Orient News said.

The outlet also claimed the damage to the residential buildings in Kafar Sousah was caused by a misfired Syrian anti-aircraft missile.

The Israeli military does not typically comment on specific attacks in Syria, but has admitted to conducting hundreds of sorties over the past decade against Iran-backed groups trying to gain a foothold in the country.

The IDF says it also attacks arms shipments believed to be destined for these groups, most notably the Lebanese terrorist organization Hezbollah. Additionally, air strikes attributed to Israel have repeatedly targeted Syrian air defense systems.

Last week, Saudi news site Elaph quoted an Israeli military official as saying that if Iran were to ship arms to its regional proxies in Syria under the guise of humanitarian aid after the great earthquake there, the IDF would not hesitate to strike.

The unnamed official said “there is information indicating that Iran will take advantage of the tragic situation in Syria” and supply weapons to Hezbollah and other Iran-backed groups in Syria.

Several Iranian cargo planes carrying aid have landed in Syria since a powerful earthquake hit the country and areas of southeastern Turkey on February 6.

In recent years, Israel has been credited with several airstrikes against alleged Iranian arms shipments disguised as seemingly harmless products, including an incident last month.

It is generally believed that relatively large arms are smuggled via Syria using Iranian cargo planes, which often land at Damascus International and the Tiyas or T-4 airbase outside the central Syrian city of Palmyra.

It is believed the weapons will then be stored in warehouses in the area before being transported to Lebanon.

Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, UBS stocks forecasts of further Fed rate hikes

Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan and UBS have announced their forecasts for another US Federal Reserve rate hike. Bank of America and Goldman Sachs, for example, now expect the Fed to hike rates three more times this year.

Big banks predict more Fed rate hikes

As the Federal Reserve continues its fight against inflation, several major banks – including Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, UBS and JPMorgan – have shared their forecasts of how much more the Fed will hike rates this year.

Goldman Sachs said in a note on Thursday it now expects the Federal Reserve to hike interest rates three more times this year after data released on Thursday pointed to persistent inflation and a resilient job market. The bank, which previously forecast rate hikes of 25 basis points at the Fed’s March and May meetings, now expects another rate hike in June. The firm’s economists, led by Jan Hatzius, Head of Global Investment Research and Chief Economist, detailed:

On the back of stronger growth and firmer inflation news, we’re adding a 25 basis point (bps) rate hike to our June Fed forecast, which translates to a top rate of 5.25% to 5.5%.

Bank of America Global Research also expects three more rate hikes from the Federal Reserve this year. The bank previously said it expects the Fed to hike rates by 25 basis points at both its March and May meetings. Bank of America now expects another 25 basis point rate hike at the Fed’s June meeting, which will lift the final rate to a range of 5.25% to 5.5%. The bank said in a note to clients this week:

Resurgent inflation and solid employment gains mean the risks to this (just two rate hikes) outlook are too lopsided for our liking.

European investment bank UBS also said it expects the Federal Reserve to hike interest rates by 25 basis points at its March and May meetings, which could keep the Fed’s policy rate in the 5% to 5.25% range. While most people don’t expect the Fed to cut rates this year, UBS does expect the Federal Reserve to ease rates at its September meeting. The global investment bank recently wrote in a client note:

We expect the FOMC (Federal Open Market Committee) to reverse and start cutting interest rates at the September FOMC meeting.

Meanwhile, JPMorgan Chase had forecast the terminal rate at 5.1% by the end of June. Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan, said in an interview with Portal last week that the Federal Reserve could hike interest rates above the 5% mark. Stressing that it is too early to announce victory over inflation, Dimon said:

It’s perfectly reasonable for the Fed to go to 5% and wait a while.

However, if inflation falls to 3.5% or 4% and stays there, “you may need to go above 5% and that could impact short and longer rates,” JPMorgan’s board of directors warned.

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and several other Fed officials have said more rate hikes are needed to curb inflation. A Portal poll released on Tuesday showed that 46 out of 86 economists have predicted the Federal Reserve will hike interest rates by 25 basis points in both March and May.

Do you agree with Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, UBS or JPMorgan that the Fed will keep raising rates? Let us know in the comment section below.

Kelsey Grammers daughter was excited about a Nepo baby item

Kelsey Grammer’s daughter was ‘excited’ about a Nepo baby item

Spencer Grammer and Kelsey Grammer. Rich Polk/Getty Images

  • Kelsey Grammer said his daughter Spencer wasn’t happy to be in NY Mag’s Nepo Baby article.
  • Nepo babies are people in the entertainment industry with famous relatives or connections.
  • Kelsey and Spencer starred together on Lifetime in the film The 12 Days of Christmas Eve.

During an appearance on NBC’s “Hoda & Jenna” on Wednesday, Kelsey Grammer opened up about how his daughter Spencer felt about being included in New York Magazine’s 2022 Nepo Baby feature.

A “Nepo baby” is defined as anyone who – through their famous relatives or helpful connections – capitalizes on nepotism to break into Hollywood or any other industry. The term implies that these people are able to use those connections and their own privileges to “bypass” less connected people to get ahead.

“She was so upset because she said, ‘I’ve spent 25 years being known to someone other than your daughter.’ And the first thing we do together is get slapped for it,” Grammer said on the show (talk starts at the 5:15 minute mark).

New York Magazine’s article on Grammer references helped fan the flames of the Nepo-Baby conversation. In the article, author Nate Jones explains the ins and outs of Nepo babies in Hollywood, including notable Nepo babies like Lily-Rose Depp (Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis), Jack Quaid (Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan), and Maya Hawke (Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman), among many others.

Media is not supported by AMP.
Tap for a full mobile experience.

“A baby is a bundle of joy; a Nepo baby is physical proof that meritocracy is a lie. We love them, we hate them, we don’t respect them, we’re obsessed with them,” Jones wrote in the article.

Spencer’s role opposite her father in the Lifetime film The 12 Days of Christmas Eve helped bring her name into the conversation. However, before appearing in that role opposite Grammer, Spencer starred in several films and popular television shows, including ABC Family’s Greek (which aired from 2007 to 2011) and Rick and Morty (2013-present).

Towards the end of the “Hoda & Jenna” interview, Grammer, who has six other children, said he plans to start working with his eldest daughter again soon.

“We’re actually talking about doing another movie with her, just with me as a cameo, but with this other character finding God and Christmas and love again,” Grammer told the hosts.

Grammer was on the show to promote his new film, the Christian film Jesus Revolution, which is due out February 24.
