You may already know that Aubrey is making her debut as a presenter on Saturday Night Live this weekend, with Sam Smith as musical guest — but you probably didn’t know that she once auditioned for the show herself.

During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Aubrey revealed that she threw her hat in the ring to be a part of the iconic show’s cast in the early 2000s.

Aubrey explained that she didn’t make it to the “famous final” audition with SNL boss Lorne Michaels, but she gave the “prelim first-round showcase” a chance with two original characters she brought to the audition.

“I remember one character I did was like a Puerto Rican news reporter who was always trying to make all the news sexy,” she recalls, “even if it was horrible news. I was just trying to spice up the news or something.”

The other character, according to Aubrey, was “a housewife who takes pills and had a show called ‘Celebri-Tails,’ where I just name celebrities and tell me what kind of dick they would have if they had a dick.”

“I would say, ‘Lindsay Lohan would have a bushy squirrel tail.’ Or like, ‘Bill Clinton would have a polar bear knuckle.’”

Not surprisingly, Aubrey got stuck in the audition — but she ended up working as an intern in SNL’s design department in 2004-05.

But Aubrey said she mostly spent her intern days “stalking” and “lurking in the shadows.” “They loved me because I wasn’t interested in set design at all, and they wanted an intern who had no interest in learning what they were doing,” she said.

“I was just creepy,” she joked. “Well, I was a creepy stalker. Now I’m going to host it, so my master plan worked!”

It certainly did – and we’ll see what she’s up to on SNL this weekend. If it’s anything like her audition, it’s bound to be unpredictable.
