Attack by security forces at hotel in Mogadishu continues

(ANSA) — ROME, AUGUST 20 — The airstrike by Somali security forces to liberate the Hayat Hotel, which was attacked in the evening by Al Qaeda-linked Islamist terrorists Al Shabaab and has so far caused the deaths of at least 8 civilians. Gunshots and sporadic explosions can still be heard as the military besiege the terrorists barricading themselves at the popular hotel frequented by Somalis and foreigners.
