At least two people died Monday and another was injured after a shooting broke out at a school for disadvantaged youth in the US city of Des Moines, Iowa, local police said on the networks “Several potential suspects in custody.”

Police Chief Paul Parizek confirmed that two students who had previously been reported injured died. The third injured person, whose medical condition is unknown, is a teacher at the Starts Right Here center, which CNN says is an autonomous school that helps young people living in disadvantaged backgrounds.

The event occurred around 1:00 p.m. local time and comes two days after another mass shooting by an Asian man who later committed suicide, killing 11 people in the town of Monterey Park, 15 kilometers east of Los Angeles.
