At least 2 die in California plane crash Gazeta Brasil

Two planes collided in northern California Thursday while attempting to land at a local airport, killing at least two of the three occupants, officials said Thursday.

The planes were trying to land at Watsonville Municipal Airport when they collided just before 3 p.m., according to Watsonville city officials.

The city did not provide any information on the exact number of deaths. The Federal Aviation Authority said one person was on board the singleengine Cessna 152 involved and two people were on board a twinengine Cessna 340, the second aircraft involved in the accident.

A photo shared by the city of the aftermath of the accident shows a building whose outer wall collapsed while parts of the plane were inside.

Multiple authorities responded at Watsonville Municipal Airport after two planes attempting to land collided. We have received reports of several deaths.

What caused the accident was unclear. The city said an investigation is ongoing.

The accident happened at Watsonville Municipal Airport in Watsonville, California, a city of just over 50,000 people about 80 kilometers south of San Jose.
