Arsenal and Aston Villa staff split in press box brawl

Arsenal and Aston Villa staff were restrained after a physical altercation in the Villa Park press box during Saturday’s Premier League match between the two teams.

Villa data and video analyst Victor Manas – who used to work with Unai Emery at Arsenal – and Arsenal analyst Miguel Molina were split after the league leaders’ third goal from Stewards.

Molina then left the press box at her own request.

When asked about the post-game clash, Mikel Arteta said: “Like anything that happens in the stands, we will look at it, address it and take action if necessary.”

He added he hasn’t spoken to Molina yet.

Emery said after the match he was “unaware” of the altercation, “but would ask.”

Arsenal scored twice in added time, winning an entertaining game and returning to the top of the Premier League.

Jorginho’s shot was deflected by Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez to put Arsenal 3-2 ahead – leading to a scuffle on the press box – before Gabriel Martinelli scored a fourth breakaway.

Villa led twice in the first half through Ollie Watkins and Philippe Coutinho. But they were held back by goals from Bukayo Saka and Oleksandr Zinchenko on either side of the break.
