Arrested for bringing a raccoon into a bar

A woman was arrested a few days ago for allegedly bringing an “undomesticated raccoon” into a North Dakota bar. According to True Crime Daily, she faces criminal charges.

According to reports, Erin Christensen, who kept the animal at home, took the animal to a local bar. Authorities are reportedly concerned about possible exposure to rabies.

The raccoon, named Rocky, was bitten and confiscated to be tested for diseases, including rabies, the Benson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

The lady and her family would have found Rocky on the side of the road. He reportedly tested negative for rabies at the time.

It is illegal under North Dakota Board of Animal Health law to keep a raccoon as a pet.

Ms. Christensen faces up to two years in prison and a $7,500 (CAN$10,179.56) fine.
